Academic Festival / DCC
Society of Sports Pharmacy
Society of Sports Pharmacy's academic festival is an academic-centered event that summarizes the year's activities and shares various achievements .
We share the results of paper and poster contests, academic conferences, and member activities, and also offer member-participatory programs. The academic festival serves as a forum for both member communication and professional development, providing an opportunity to academically expand the professional capabilities of sports pharmacists.
One of the core programs of the academic festival is the "DCC (Doping Counseling Competition). This clinical simulation competition, designed to test pharmacists' counseling skills regarding banned doping substances (drugs and supplements), simulates a variety of situations pharmacists might encounter in real-life counseling settings, targeting athletes (including professional athletes and recreational athletes) in doping-sensitive environments.
Participants are provided with a virtual prescription containing information about the patient's condition, medical history, and medications in advance. On the day of the conference, they are randomly assigned a situation and assigned to play the role of a pharmacist, providing medication guidance and counseling. Their counterparts will play the role of patients according to scenarios prepared by the organizers, and the competition will proceed as if it were a real consultation.
The 'DCC evaluation criteria' are as follows.
Knowledge about banned doping substances
Communication skills based on expertise and empathy
Ability to respond flexibly to unexpected questions
Through this competition, participants will experience the importance of trust-building communication beyond simply imparting knowledge in medication guidance. Furthermore, the DCC serves as a platform to explore the potential for pharmacists to expand their roles in sports settings and establish a practical standard model for doping prevention counseling.
